
Introduction
The 5th Edition JKA Rwanda Technical Seminar and Dan Grading was successfully held from August 14 to 18, 2024, bringing together karate practitioners from various
backgrounds and countries. This year’s seminar saw an impressive participation of 98 adults and 231 children, highlighting the growing interest and dedication to karate in the region.
Participation
The seminar attracted a diverse group of participants,
including: Total Participants: 329 (98 adults and 231 children)

5 from Kenya
2 from Zambia
4 from the United Kingdom
1 from Sweden
5 from Japan
1 from South Africa

Instructors
The seminar featured five esteemed masters from Japan and two guest instructors from South Africa and UK, whose expertise and guidance were instrumental in the training sessions:

These masters conducted various training sessions, focusing on advanced techniques, kata, kumite, and the Philosophical aspects of karate, enriching the experience for all participants.

Seminar Activities
The seminar included a variety of activities designed to cater to
different skill levels and age groups. Key highlights included:
Technical Training Sessions: Participants engaged in rigorous training sessions led by the Japanese masters, focusing on improving their karate techniques and understanding of the martial art.
Kata and Kumite Workshops: Specialized workshops were held to refine kata performance and kumite strategies, allowing participants to practice and receive feedback from experienced instructors.
Children’s Training Sessions: A dedicated training program for children was successfully implemented, fostering their skills and enthusiasm for karate.
Dan Grading Examination: The seminar culminated in a Dan grading examination, where a total of 29 participants demonstrated their skills. Out of these, 24 participants successfully passed their grading, while 5 did not meet the required standards.
Refereeing and Judges Session: This session provided valuable insights into the rules and regulations of karate competitions, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to officiate matches effectively.

Conclusion
The 5th Edition JKA Rwanda Technical Seminar and Dan Grading was a resounding success, fostering a
spirit of unity and collaboration among karate practitioners from different backgrounds. The participation
of both local and international sensei enriched the experience for all attendees, providing them with unique insights and techniques.
